Remembering Susan Bignell
Story
Mum (Sue) fought tirelessly for 18 months following her first Glioblastoma diagnosis in May 2021. Following recurrence, she endured a second surgery in January 2023 to be able to have more time with her family, however other complications led to her passing on 18 February 2023.
In lieu of flowers, we are hoping that any funds raised will contribute to ending brain cancer as a terminal illness.
Thank you to mum’s incredible neurosurgeon, Assoc Prof Amal Abou-Hamden, for giving us the precious gift of time.
We will love you forever Mum / Susie.

NeuroSurgical Research Foundation
The NeuroSurgical Research Foundation funds world-class medical research into diseases and injuries of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. We support researchers working to discover new treatments, improve patient outcomes and save the lives of children and adults affected by neurosurgical conditions.
Our research includes:
• Brain tumours – developing better treatments and understanding how cancer invades the brain.
• Parkinson's disease – advancing research to diagnose earlier and slow disease progression.
• Stroke, brain haemorrhage and aneurysms – improving surgical treatments and outcomes.
• Spinal cord injury – improving surgical treatment, outcomes and quality of life following injury.
• Traumatic brain injury – developing treatments to reduce life-threatening brain swelling.
