Story
My beautiful mum, kelly unfortunately lost her life due to a ruptured brain aneurysm on May 16th 2026.
She had experienced severe migraines her whole life, having a brain aneurysm rupture in 2009 which she luckily survived. 17 years later on the 30th of April she collapsed, she remained unconscious and was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for emergency brain surgery as they found a large bleed.
The following day (May 1st) she had another emergency surgery to clip the aneurysm which was successful.
She spent the next 9 days in ICU where she was improving, but unfortunately on the 9th of May she had another large bleed. She was rushed into surgery again where they had to remove a large portion of her right artery in her brain as it was too weak, this caused a left side stroke as well.
This was something she unfortunately could not come back from, it had caused significant irreversible damage which caused her to loose her life. She was only 44 years old.
I’m making this fundraiser as my mum was a nurse and spent her whole life helping people and giving back. I want to make an impact big or small and be able to help towards research in the neurology industry. Even if you can’t donate that’s okay, I completely understand in this economy. Sharing this post helps just as much.

The NeuroSurgical Research Foundation funds world-class medical research into diseases and injuries of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. We support researchers working to discover new treatments, improve patient outcomes and save the lives of children and adults affected by neurosurgical conditions.
